RELEASE OKIYA OKOITI IMMEDIATELY.

Could the whole world ask the Kenya government to release Okiya Omtatah Okoiti immediately?  This is total abuse of power. Okiya did not hurt anybody but he was just expressing his anger by chaining himself on fence at the Police Headquarters. It was alledged that he was trying to commit suicide. Saitoti and Major Ali should make sure that Okiya is safe whever they are keeping him.There are so many criminals in Kenya who should be charged in court of law and some of them are George Kinuthia Saitoti- Goldenberg, Kiraitu Murungi-Anglo Leasing, Mwai Kibaki- Ken Gen and many more. Okiya did not steal even a penny from the public.

Dear Maj Gen Ali and Prof Saitoti,

On Jan 17, my classmate, Okiya Okoiti Omtatah Obangonamasese chained himself in the city. He was arrested and charged. Why? Just because he wanted to express himself, to protest. He was peaceful. He spoke for all of us.

For those who do not know, Okiya Okoiti Omtatah Obangonamasese is the author of LUANDA MAGERE, a play.

As proponent of freedom of expression, I’d like to hear that he has been released from the police cells in Nairobi.

May all those who are for freedom of expression stand up and be counted. May all the media houses in Nairobi put pressure on Maj. General Ali to release Okiya Okoiti Omtatah Obangonamasese.

Nykwa ramogi Yawa! Why are we reducing our town to this? Yes, it is true the elections were a flaw and trust me KIBAKI in his conscience knows and I sure hope to GOD ALMIGHTY he has not been sleeping.

All said and done look carefully.  We are doing exactly what they want the Luos to do reduce yourselves to poverty….WHY ARE WE GIVING THEM THE SATISFACTION?

Yes, by all means demonstrate but do not loot, do not break into stores, do not burn down buildings. Compare the damages in other towns with KISUMU DALA WA…What are we doing? We are destroying ourseleves.  

Tommorrow it is us who will be without jobs, then we will say “Kisumu onge pesa,” no business in Kisumu.  But we will have brought ourselves down.  Who will we blame?

As it is, KIBAKI does not care.  In fact, we are satisfying his EGO. 

WAKE UP NYIKWA RAMOGI…this kind of distraction is going to bring us to our knees. Do not be blinded by anger… Do you see the central province towns burning down?

Ask your selves look into the future, think of where we will be as Luos what we will lose….and, again, I am saying YES GO TO THE STREETS BUT STOP THE SENSELESS DESTRUCTION. I know perhaps my comments will not be published on your blog due to what I will comment on but if possible, please publish and let the people know what this effect of mass actions and violent protests impacts in their lives.

If all have been noticing, a majority of well-to-do Kenyans are showing their protests quietly or through other means avoiding any confrontation or street demos. When mass protest or action is called, we all know that since independence, this has never been peaceful. Therefore based on how us Kenyans understand mass action and protests, our politicians should have known better than call for mass action. Your shop, or my shop, or another citizen’s shop  or office is not spared if it falls in the way of these demonstrators.

As of now, Raila has already requested the International community to impose sanctions on Kenya. While we understand the wrongs he has been done to him and to other change-oriented Kenyans, this will ofcourse impact badly not to just Kibaki’s administration but it will be felt by the ordinary mwananchi, the same person  demonstrating on the streets. Basic needs will be very expensive, jobs will be lost and thus ordinary crime will ofcourse increase due to higher poverty levels.

We may all rejoice seeing the current government being tormented but believe me, the harm that mass action and violent protests will do to our motherland will be there with us for the next couple of years as others struggle to build up what they have lost. For the people who have been saving up a lot of money have nothing to worry about since they can up and leave for greener pastures, what about us? Are we ready to suffer in this manner when there is a sure and successful way of tactling this election rigging?

Since Raila has the evidence, why doesn’t he take it to court and solve this like a patriotic Kenyan instead of returning Kenya 10years behind with his mass followers.

In all these protests, only the lower class citizens are participating, you and me are stuck in our safe houses. Why are we on the streets if we believe we are true Kenyans? Why do we let the poor fight for us with their lives? We all know the old saying, no one can defeat the Law. The poor people are fighting with the Law. The Law is clear and will win.
