As the rich politicians sit in the comfort of their mansions, the poor citizenry continue to pay heavily for their leaders' selfish ambitions and greed. As Enock Odwor mentioned above, it is the common Wanjikus and Atienos that are paying the heavy price - not politicians. Raila and Kibaki will go on recieving their MP's salaries of US$150,000+ per year, sanctions or no sanctions, as the common mwananchi continues to live under one dollar a day, which is now not even guaranteed because of this violence. That is why I get really mad when I hear somebody supporting these politicians just because they are of the same tribe. I am a kikuyu and I am going to set the record straight by saying that I have not personally benefitted from the fact that Kenyatta and Kibaki are from my tribe. I grew up poor and my parents struggled to see me and my siblings through school just like many families all over kenya. I trecked in Nairobi looking for jobs from office to office with no luck. I was a nobody who had no connections. God was good to me and now I'm in America where i was finally able to make something out of myself. I have friends here in America from all tribes including Luos. In fact one of my room mate was a Luo and we were and still are good friends. I call on all Kenyans regardless of tribe to come together and unite. Let us stop this animosity towards each other. Let us stop politicians exploiting us. Let this blind support based on ethnicity end. Let us build one united nation where a Kamba can live in Kisii, a Luo in Nyeri, a Kikuyu in Eldama Ravine........, with no fear because Kenya is ours and it is our right as citizens to live anywhere we desire in Kenya!
